Cooktop Repair — Book a Visit Today

Cooktops here take a beating. Salt air creeps into burner terminals. Humidity settles under glass. Steam from a rice pot finds every gap in a control panel. What fails most? Igniters that click without lighting, radiant elements that stay cold, touch controls that ignore a wet finger, and burner valves gummed with old oil. A visit starts with us watching the cooktop do the wrong thing. Then we pull power, check terminals, spark modules, elements, and switches, and tell you plainly what the part is and how the ordering timeline looks — island shipping is real, so we say so upfront. Gas, electric, induction, all major brands. Call us and describe what you're seeing.

Cooktop Repair — residential cooktop being serviced

The cooktop symptoms we hear most

  • It clicks and clicks but won't light Spark igniter, wet or clogged burner cap, or a failing spark module
  • One burner is stone cold, the rest work Broken surface element, burnt receptacle terminals, or a bad infinite switch
  • My touch panel won't respond Moisture under the glass, failed touch board, or control ribbon corrosion
  • Flames are yellow and sooty Burner port blockage, wrong gas orifice, or poor air shutter adjustment
  • Heat won't stop cycling on high Stuck infinite switch, shorted element, or a failed relay on the control board

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1 Confirm the breaker for the cooktop hasn't tripped, and reset it once.
  • 2Lift off burner caps and grates, dry them fully, and reseat them square in their slots.
  • 3Wipe the touch glass completely dry, since a film of water reads as a finger.
  • 4On induction, hold a magnet to your pan — if it doesn't stick, the pan is the problem.

Cooktop Repair — quick answers

Do you work on gas and electric both?

Yes. Gas sealed burners, coil elements, radiant glass tops, and induction. We're an independent shop and service all major brands. Tell us the brand and roughly how old the unit is when you call us, and we'll come prepared.

Why does my igniter keep clicking after the burner lights?

Usually moisture or spilled food bridging the spark electrode, so the module keeps firing. Drying the burner area often stops it. If clicking continues dry, the switch or spark module is failing and needs replacing.

How long do parts take to arrive?

That depends on the part and the boat. Common elements, switches, and igniters often move quickly. Control boards and glass tops for less common models can take longer to reach the islands. We give you a realistic window before ordering anything.

Can a cracked glass cooktop be repaired?

Cracks in ceramic glass can't be patched safely. The panel gets replaced as a unit. Stop using that surface right away — moisture reaching the elements underneath creates a shock hazard. Call us and we'll check whether the panel is still available.

Is salt air really hard on a cooktop?

It is. Coastal homes see corrosion on burner terminals, element receptacles, and control connections faster than inland homes. Green or white crust on a plug means resistance and heat. Cleaning and replacing corroded connectors is routine work for us.

Should I turn off the gas before you arrive?

Only if you smell gas. Then shut the supply valve, open windows, skip the light switches, and call the gas company first. Otherwise leave things as they are so we can see the fault happen for ourselves.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the sound

Call us or fill in the form. Describe what you hear, smell, or see. Puddle under the washer? Clicking from the fridge? Small details help us load the right parts before we drive out.

  2. Step 2

    We look it over

Our tech opens the machine and tests the real cause, not the guess. Salt-eaten terminals and humid control boards hide well. You hear exactly what failed and which repair options make sense.

  3. Step 3

    Fixed or scheduled

Many repairs finish the same visit from parts on the van. When something must ship in from the mainland, we tell you straight, order it, and keep you posted until it lands.

Questions worth asking any repair company

Ask these of anyone you let into your home — us included. Call and we'll answer all five before you book anything.

  • 1Ask for their license numberThen verify it with your state licensing board rather than taking it on trust.
  • 2Ask for proof of insuranceLiability cover protects you if something goes wrong in your home.
  • 3Get the quote in writingIncluding the trip fee, whether it's credited against the repair, and parts.
  • 4Ask how they handle callbacksIf the same fault returns, what happens? Get the answer before work begins.
  • 5Check their own reviewsLook the business up independently — their Google profile, not just what they tell you.

Why homeowners call us

  • Built for salt airCoastal homes chew through appliances. We check for corroded connectors, rusted brackets, and moisture in control boards, because a fixed symptom means little if the salt keeps eating the same part next season.
  • Humidity knows-howDamp trade wind air makes dryers work harder and vents clog faster. We clear airflow paths, test moisture sensors, and explain small habits that keep your laundry room from fighting the weather.
  • Straight talk on partsShipping across the Pacific takes time. We say so up front instead of vanishing. You get realistic timing, a clear plan while you wait, and honest advice when a machine is not worth the wait.
  • Independent and localWe are an independent repair company working on all major brands. No sales pitch for a new unit. Neighbors talking to neighbors, in plain words, about the machine in your kitchen right now.
  • All major brands, gas & electricWhirlpool, Samsung, LG, GE, Maytag, Bosch, KitchenAid and more — as an independent repair company.
  • Straight answersIf it isn't worth repairing, we'll say so — often on the phone.
